7 Card Stud Poker is a more intense poker game to play because each round or “street” demands a different strategy and there are more cards to deal with than playing Texas Hold’em. Hence the name “7 Card Stud”.
The basic rules of 7 Card Stud are the same as Texas Hold’em, you must come up with the best 5 card poker hand, but now you can create the highest ranking hand out of 7 possible cards. Your starting hand in 7 Card Stud consists of three cards, so you will ultimately have a better idea early on, whether you have a favorable hand to carry on to the later rounds. This is a key point in 7 Card Stud. One of your most important decisions will be whether to enter the pot on the first betting round. We will go into that in more detail on 7 Card Stud Poker rules. One other major difference in 7 Card Stud is that you do not share community cards like in Texas Hold’em.
Each move you make in 7 Card Stud is a crucial decision. The slightest error could find you stuck betting in the later rounds with no way out. As in many poker games, 7 Card Stud is easy to learn, but difficult to master. Please read the 7 Card Stud Poker rules page and you will be able to fare just fine in many online low-limit games.
